Carl Hutchison Dies; Crawford County Leader
GAYS MILLS ? Carl M. Hutchison, 70, chairman of the Crawford County Republican Party and member of the County Board, died Thursday (Apr. 13, 1972)-in a Viroqua hospital after a long illness. He had been the chairman of the Crawford County Republican Party for about 20 years. Mr. Hutchison had served on the Crawford County Board for 32 years. He was re-elccted Apr 7. Mr. Hutchison served as chairman of the Finance and Industrial Development Committee of Crawford County, the Five County Library Committee, and the Four County Coulee Region Community Action Council. He was appointed lo the Mississippi Regional Planning Commission by former Gov. Warren P. Knowles and was the chairman of its Recreational Committee. About a month ago, Mr. Hutchison was appointed chairman of the Crawford County Housing Authority. He was the owner of Hutchison Enterprises which owned a barbershop, tavern, and farm. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Eastern Star, the Odd Fellows, the Zor Shrine, and Madison Consistory.
Surviving, are his wife, the former Ann Smith; a daughter; a son; a sister, Mrs. Clarence Lawton, Readstown; and one grandson. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Martin Funeral Home, whe re friends may call until then. A Masonic service will be held at the funeral home at 8 tonight. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital and Burn Institute.
