Son of Salmon and Susannah (Proctor) Ward. Twin brother to Edgar R. Ward. A Civil War Veteran. Edwin was married three times and had 15 children. His first wife was Martha Doty and they had a daughter, Meritta, born in 1861. Martha died in 1863. He remarried in 1864 to Eliza Ayres and of this marriage there were 4 children born. Eliza died in October 1876. The youngest child was 2 when she died. He remarried for a third time in December 1876, taking his wife's younger sister as his wife. At the time he had 5 children at home between the ages 2 and 15.
