William Oscar "Will" Ward was the son of Edwin R. and Eliza (Ayers) Ward. His mother died when he was 11 and his father remarried to Elizabeth Agnes Ayers, his mother's younger sister. Will had a half sister from his father's first marriage to Martha Doty - Meritta Ann Schoville; two sisters Martha Townsend, Laura Albro and a brother, Aden John; then he had 11 half brothers and sisters, Florence, Charles, Josephine Daughenbaugh-Peavy, Mathias, Olive, Allen, Lorena Sheeves, Eunice "Annie" Smith, Homer Hollis and Gladys Schimming. Will was a farmer. He had a peg leg. His house was on Trout Creek in Crawford Co., WI.
